Product Design Development

The sQdOo is a handy mobility aid for children and young adults who need extra support to stand and walk. This gait trainer is portable and can fit in a regular car. It improves muscle strength, blood circulation, and mimics natural human gait, helping users achieve and maintain optimal functioning while interacting with their environment.

Marketing Research

I began my research by studying gait abnormalities and differentiating between the various types of four-wheeled walking aids available in the market. I specifically focused on understanding which conditions and level of support each aid was designed for. With this information, I identified my target group and concluded that the product to be developed is a gait trainer designed for people with a high need for support and a severe grade of disability.

Target Group

Young Adults 14-24
Specifics: Mild mobility in lower limbs (Few steps)
Characteristics: -Curious-Self Conscious-Peer oriented- Energetic-Autonomous-Individual Identity.

Remarks: Because of child protection laws and young adult guardianship consent, it was not feasible to frequently test the product with children. Instead, I conducted tests with adults who were born with severe lower limb disabilities to evaluate the product during every phase of the design process.

Personas:

The test users played a central role in every decision made throughout the design thinking process, and their feedback was crucial in the development of sQdOo. Let me introduce them to you!
